SEX ATTACKER GETS 12 YEARS FOR BRUTAL RAPE IN TYNEMOUTH

A sex attacker who claimed to be the anti-Christ was sentenced to 12 years in prison for the brutal rape of a girl in a seaside village. The offender, Simon Maddocks, stalked the girl through the streets of Tynemouth in the early morning hours before cornering her. He warned her he was a dangerous man and then forced her to a nearby cliff edge where he produced a syringe. The victim was told that the syringe was infected with AIDS and unless she complied, she would be injected. Maddocks then raped and sexually assaulted her before fleeing after warning her to say nothing and wait for 15 minutes. The girl, who was crying and counting on her fingers, ran home afterward. Both the victim and a passerby provided a good description of Maddocks, who was arrested six days later after DNA evidence linked him to the crime. Maddocks, aged 26 and residing on Bentinck Road, Newcastle, initially denied the attack but later confessed, claiming he had taken drugs the night before. He has previous convictions for drugs, dishonesty, attempted robbery at knifepoint, and brandishing a knife at a hospital. The judge described the rape as one of the most dreadful he had seen and ordered Maddocks to remain on license for six years after his release and to register as a sex offender for life.
