SIMON GOFF SHOCKS EPSOM WITH LEWD INCIDENTS IN CHEAM PARK

In a disturbing series of events that has left the local community in shock, Simon Goff, a resident of Shawley Crescent in Epsom, was found guilty of exposing himself to schoolgirls in Cheam Park, a popular recreational area near Ewell Road. The incidents, which occurred in November of the previous year, prompted a swift police response and led to Goff’s placement on the Sex Offenders’ Register.

On November 4, 2010, two young girls, who were walking home from a nearby secondary school, encountered Goff while they were passing through Cheam Park. According to reports, Goff approached the girls and exposed himself before fleeing towards Cheam Village. The victims, understandably distressed, immediately reported the incident to a Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) who was present in the park at the time. This prompt reporting was crucial in initiating the investigation.

Less than a week later, on November 10, at approximately 4 pm, another distressing encounter took place in the same park. Two schoolgirls walking along a footpath saw Goff approaching them. Without warning, he exposed himself in front of the young victims, who were left in shock and quickly ran away from the scene. The repeated nature of these incidents raised significant concern among residents and authorities alike.

Following a thorough investigation, police officers, including both uniformed and plainclothes personnel, launched a concerted operation in Cheam Park and the surrounding areas. Their efforts culminated in Goff’s arrest on November 25. Detective Constable Kevin Guest of Sutton’s Crime Squad expressed gratitude towards the victims, acknowledging their bravery and dignity in coping with such traumatic experiences. He emphasized that their cooperation was instrumental in bringing Goff before the courts.

Goff, aged 30, pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent exposure during the court proceedings. On Monday, at Sutton Magistrates’ Court, he was sentenced to a three-year community order. Additionally, he is required to participate in the Thames Valley Sex Offender Group programme for a period of three years. As part of his sentence, Goff will also be placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for five years starting from March 15, the date of his conviction. The court’s decision reflects the seriousness of his actions and the ongoing efforts to protect the community from sexual offenders.
