SIMON FULLER FROM OXSHOTT AND LEATHERHEAD INVOLVED IN CHILD PORNOGRAPHY AT LOCAL SCHOOL

In a disturbing case that has shocked the communities of Leatherhead and Oxshott, Simon John Fuller, aged 27, of Silverdale Avenue, Oxshott, was found to have committed serious crimes involving indecent images of children. Fuller, who previously worked at Therfield School located on Dilston Road in Leatherhead, was convicted of possessing and creating a significant number of illegal images, leading to a three-year community order being imposed upon him.

Fuller’s criminal activities spanned over a period from March 1996 to July 2008. During this time, he held a position at the Leatherhead school as an IT technician, a role he reportedly occupied for approximately one year during the 2002 to 2003 academic year. The revelation that someone with such a criminal background had access to a school environment has raised serious concerns among parents and local residents about safeguarding measures and background checks for staff working with children.

A spokesperson for Surrey County Council confirmed Fuller’s employment, stating, “We can confirm Simon Fuller worked as an IT technician at the school for one year, during the 2002 to 2003 school year.” This statement has only intensified worries about the vetting procedures in place at local educational institutions.

Adding to the community’s alarm, a mother whose child attended the school expressed her concerns anonymously, saying, “I had heard a rumour that he worked there. They should do more checks before letting them work in schools.” The case has prompted calls for stricter background checks and more thorough vetting processes for individuals seeking employment in educational settings.

Beyond his work at the school, Fuller also had a background working with children as a sailing instructor. Authorities revealed that he owned nearly 60,000 indecent images, a staggering number that underscores the severity of his crimes. As part of his sentencing, Fuller was given a community order that included the requirement to attend a sex offenders rehabilitation course, aiming to address his criminal behavior and prevent future offenses.
