SIMON CLARKE'S CRIMES IN CAVERSHAM AND OXFORD: SERIAL PERVERT SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES AGAINST CHILDREN

In a series of disturbing incidents spanning several years, Simon Clarke, a man with a troubling history of sexual offenses, has been convicted and sentenced for his heinous acts involving minors in the areas of Caversham and Oxford.

In March 2021, Clarke was sentenced to five years in prison after committing a sexual act in front of a 13-year-old girl in Henley. The incident occurred while Clarke was seated inside a rented van as the young girl was walking to school. The court heard that just moments before this event, Clarke had followed an 11-year-old girl in the same white vehicle and had stopped to speak with her. However, the girl managed to escape and run away from him. The court was informed that Clarke, aged 38 and residing on Church Road in Caversham, had admitted to engaging in sexual activity in front of a child, as well as violating two previous orders designed to prevent him from committing further sexual offenses.

This case is part of a broader pattern of criminal behavior by Clarke, who has a documented history of sexual misconduct. Back in September 2010, Clarke, then living on Abingdon Road in Oxford, was sentenced to prison for grooming a young girl. During that earlier case, Clarke had assumed the identity of a young boy named Jimmy in an attempt to lure a girl under the age of 16. The girl, from Barnet, was unaware of Clarke’s true identity. Police reports detailed how Clarke had contacted her after a school party, claiming to be Jimmy, and used the alias “Cybersnake” to communicate with her through phone calls, texts, and online chat rooms.

Clarke’s manipulative tactics culminated in persuading the girl to meet him at Hendon Central station in London. He falsely claimed to be a friend of Jimmy and instructed her to sit with him. Recognizing his voice as the one calling himself Jimmy, the girl became suspicious, ran away, and reported the incident to her mother. The police launched an investigation that uncovered Clarke’s extensive history of sexual offenses. Authorities found multiple phones at his residence containing images of young girls and a list of their phone numbers. It was also revealed that Clarke had been actively using social media platforms like Facebook to gather information on potential victims.

As a result of these findings, Clarke was convicted and sentenced to two years in prison at Wood Green Crown Court. The victim’s mother publicly praised the police for their diligent work, stating that they “stopped this being a scary or frightening experience.” She expressed relief that her daughter had made a full recovery and emphasized the importance of reporting such incidents to authorities. Her words underscored the ongoing need for vigilance and intervention to protect children from predators like Clarke, whose criminal activities have caused significant harm in the communities of Caversham and Oxford.
