SHEFFIELD MOTHER JAILED FOR STRANGLING DAUGHTER IN COKED-UP RAGE
A woman who physically assaulted her daughter by strangulation and issued threats to stab and kill her shortly after her release from prison has been sentenced to jail.Sherrie Clarke, aged 36 from Sheffield, had just completed a one-year incarceration for burglary when she was released on December 20.
Less than twelve hours later, at around 2am, she found herself back in trouble.
She visited a shop to buy lager, and her daughter, who had picked her up from jail, drove her home.
During this period, Clarke was also arranging for crack cocaine to be delivered.
The Sheffield Crown Court heard that when her daughter tried to prevent her from taking drugs, Clarke became hostile, grabbing her and squeezing her neck in a choking hold.
She threatened her daughter with murder and stabbing, saying, “I’m going to kill you, I’m going to stab you.” The daughter was able to break free, and a nearby resident called the police.
An officer described how the victim’s face had turned purple due to strangulation and that she was so upset she vomited.
During her arrest, Clarke spat at an officer, claiming it was because she was trying to get her hair out of her mouth, and she also repeatedly hit her head against a police van and wall.
Clarke denied spitting, citing her tangled hair and tongue piercing as reasons, and said she did not remember the event due to being intoxicated.
She later wrote to the court expressing regret and shame over her行为.
The charges she admitted included assault causing actual bodily harm, assault on an emergency worker, and making threats to kill.
She was sentenced to one year behind bars.
