PERTH MAN FINED FOR BRUTAL AND HUMILIATING ASSAULT ON EX-GIRLFRIEND
The offender, Sheharyar Awan, 21, from Perth, was involved in a brutal and degrading assault on his ex-girlfriend Mahona Bhuyon.
During the attack, which occurred shortly after they had separated, Awan grabbed her by the throat, spat in her face, and forced her to kiss his shoe as a form of humiliation.
Bhuyon recounted that she was forced to flee their shared flat and was found cowering in a stairwell afterwards, feeling humiliated.
The court was told that Awan's actions included threatening her by shouting, swearing, and preventing her from contacting the police by emptying her handbag.
Awan was subsequently found guilty of these actions, including acting in a threatening manner, and was ordered to pay a fine of £700 and an additional £700 in compensation to his victim.
The sheriff expressed astonishment at his behaviour, especially given his background and professional career prospects, and commented that his supportive family would be ashamed of his conduct.
