SHANE SULLIVAN FROM LOCHGELLY FACES COURT OVER DOMESTIC ABUSE INCIDENT IN KELTY

Shane Sullivan, aged 25 and residing on Paul Street in Lochgelly, appeared before Dunfermline Sheriff Court to face serious allegations related to a domestic incident that occurred on June 2. Sullivan had previously admitted to behaving in a threatening and abusive manner at an address in Kelty, an act that was deemed likely to cause fear or alarm to a reasonable person.

The court was informed that Sullivan and his ex-partner had been involved in a tumultuous on-and-off relationship spanning approximately three years. The couple shares a child, and the incident unfolded after the woman had been out with friends for the evening. The following morning, Sullivan arrived uninvited at her residence in Kelty, seeking to see their child. His unexpected appearance was unwelcome, and to avoid confrontation, the woman retreated to her bedroom.

However, Sullivan entered the bedroom while holding their child in his arms. During this intrusion, he shouted aggressively, demanding, "tell me who your f***ing boyfriend was then," and subsequently threw the child onto the bed. The situation escalated further when Sullivan kicked a door, causing damage to the property, before leaving the scene. The woman, feeling alarmed and distressed by the incident, contacted the police to report what had transpired.

In sentencing, Sheriff Alastair Brown emphasized the unacceptability of domestic abuse within society. He stated, "The Court, like society, does not approve of domestic abuse. Cooperation between parents is essential, and it cannot be achieved if one person insists on having their own way. If you fail to understand this, you are likely to encounter more trouble in the future."

As part of his sentence, Sullivan was ordered to undergo three years of supervision and to participate in the Caledonian Domestic Abuse Programme. Additionally, he was sentenced to complete 90 hours of unpaid work. A non-harassment order was also imposed, preventing Sullivan from contacting or approaching the complainant for a period of five years, in an effort to protect her from further incidents.
