SHAUN REEVES FROM DEWSBURY CAUGHT WITH CHILD SEX IMAGES IN HORRIFIC DISCOVERY
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Dewsbury, Shaun Reeves, a 56-year-old man, was found to possess indecent images of children as young as three years old.The incident came to light in February 2017 when police executed a search warrant at Reeves' residence following credible information suggesting he might be in possession of such illicit material.
Officers arrived at Reeves' address on Trafalgar Road in Dewsbury and, although he was not present at the time, they discovered a laptop on a table that matched the IP address linked to the illegal content.
The subsequent examination of the device revealed a horrifying collection of videos and images.
Among these were 14 Category A videos, which are classified as the most serious due to their explicit and extreme nature.
Additionally, investigators found two videos categorized as B and one as C, along with an extreme pornographic image involving a woman and an animal.
Prosecutor David Ward detailed that the youngest children depicted in the videos appeared to be between three and five years old.
The content was deeply disturbing, and Reeves made no comment when questioned by authorities during his interview.
Reeves, who resides on Trafalgar Road in Dewsbury, pleaded guilty to three charges of making indecent images and one charge of possessing extreme pornography.
His plea was accepted by the court, leading to a sentencing hearing at Leeds Crown Court.
Judge Tom Bayliss QC delivered a stern judgment, imposing an eight-month prison sentence, which was suspended for two years.
The judge expressed profound concern over the nature of Reeves' actions, stating, “I don’t pretend for one moment to know what possesses someone like you to get sexual pleasure from watching children as young as three, or six or seven being raped because that is what you are watching.” He continued, “You probably don’t think about the children when you are doing that but you should.
The fact you get your perverted sexual pleasure from it means these children are sexually abused in the most terrible way.” Despite the severity of the crimes, Judge Bayliss emphasized that the most effective way to prevent Reeves from reoffending and to protect the community was through supervised probation.
As part of his sentence, Reeves was also ordered to complete 30 days of rehabilitation activities and perform 200 hours of unpaid work.
Furthermore, he is required to register as a sex offender for the next ten years, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities to safeguard the public from potential harm.
