January 2013  Paedophile jailed for second time for 14 charges including grooming 14-year-old boy A CONVICTED paedophile has been jailed for a second time after grooming a 14-year-old boy. Cambridgeshire police tracked Shaun Nash down in September using his Internet provider address after information was received from the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP). Officers found more than 1,000 indecent images on his computer including 12 at level five – the most severe – as well as 159 at level four, 50 at level three, 321 at level two and 455 at level one. Nash also groomed young boys online in chat rooms and formed a relationship with a 14-year-old boy, from Hampshire, before asking him to send him indecent pictures. In police interview, Nash admitted all the offences and blamed his behaviour on a traumatic experience in his life at the age of 13. DC Jo Crisall said: “Nash has been committing these crimes since he was 16 when, he was given a two-year suspended sentence in 1985. “We think there could be further victims and the sentence he has now received reflects the gravity of his offences. “Nash’s crimes have caused trauma and lasting consequences for his victims and their families and I hope they find some comfort by the fact justice has been served.” Andy Baker, deputy chief executive at CEOP said: “Another dangerous child sex offender is now behind bars where he cannot do any more harm to our children. The police, the wider law enforcement community and partners will continue to work together to target offenders who sexually abuse children and trade in images of child sexual abuse. Those partners include Internet service providers around the world and we are working together closer than ever before. “Nash’s arrest came about as a result of information received at the Centre from an international partner about images being uploaded online. This conviction demonstrates once again that if you are trading in these sickening images you will be sought, found and punished; however much you try to hide your crimes. CEOP has an extensive network of worldwide partners working with us to help make the Internet a safer place for children and to catch those who abuse children and bring them to justice.” Nash, of West end, Yaxley, was jailed for four years in 1994 for four offences in West Yorkshire relating to four boys aged between 10 and 14. The 43-year-old was jailed again today (Friday) for a further 14 offences during 2011 and 2012 including three counts of taking indecent photographs of a child, three counts of possessing indecent photographs of a child and two counts of distributing indecent photographs of a child. He was also convicted of four counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and two counts of publishing an obscene article. Nash was jailed for four years and eight months at Peterborough Crown Court. Shaun Nash, 43, was remanded in custody by Peterborough Crown Court until he is sentenced in the new year. Nash, originally from Cambridge, who had 3,424 indecent images of children on his computer, had previous convictions for sex offences and was already on the sex offenders’ register for life. He admitted four offences of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, three offences of making indecent pictures of a child, three offences of possessing indecent images, two offences of publishing obscene material in chatlogs, distributing indecent pictures and incitement to distribute obscene material. Nash, who also lived in Godmanchester before moving to West End, Yaxley, denied arranging a child sex offence and the charge will be left on his file. The case was adjourned for four weeks for pre-sentence reports and Nash was remanded in custody. Marti Blair, prosecuting, said, 3,424 indecent images had been discovered on Nash’s computer, but he also had a cloud server which had not yet been accessed. She said: “It is believed this is the tip of the iceberg in terms of offending.” He will be sentenced on January 18.
