SHAUN HOBSON FROM LIVERPOOL SENTENCED FOR BRUTAL ATTACKS IN CITY CENTRE

A man identified as Shaun Hobson, aged 25 and originally from Ashford in Kent, became the focus of a serious criminal investigation following a series of alarming incidents that took place in the heart of Liverpool city centre. The disturbing events began in the early hours of Sunday, October 6, 2024, when Hobson was involved in an assault near Tabley Street. Witnesses reported that he physically attacked a woman, grabbing her by the throat in a manner that caused significant concern and fear among those nearby. Fortunately, a vigilant member of the public was present at the scene and intervened just in time to prevent further harm.

Despite the intervention, Hobson managed to escape the scene. However, approximately ten minutes later, he was seen following two additional women into a nearby car park. The situation escalated as Hobson assaulted these women, grabbing one of them around her waist, mouth, and face in an apparent attempt to subdue or harm her. Both women, demonstrating remarkable resilience and courage, managed to break free from his grasp and fled the scene, seeking safety and assistance. The police investigation, led by Merseyside Police, quickly mobilized resources to identify and apprehend the suspect. CCTV footage played a crucial role in tracking Hobson’s movements, ultimately leading to his arrest on October 15 in the Kent area.

Following his arrest, Hobson was brought before Liverpool Crown Court, where he faced multiple charges. The court found him guilty of several serious crimes, including intentional strangulation, attempted kidnapping, and two counts of common assault with the intent to commit a sexual offence. The judge sentenced Hobson to nine years in prison, reflecting the gravity of his actions and the threat he posed to public safety. Additionally, he was ordered to be placed on the Sex Offender Register for life, a measure aimed at monitoring and preventing further offenses.

The victims of these assaults have spoken out about the lasting impact of their traumatic experiences.
