SHANE WALKER FROM ADDLESTONE INVOLVED IN HORRIFIC DOG ATTACK AT RAILWAY STATION IN ADDLESTONE

Shane Walker, a man born around 1989 and residing in Addlestone, Surrey, was involved in a disturbing incident at a railway station where he repeatedly kicked and stamped on a dog’s head. The incident, which shocked witnesses and drew significant concern from the local community, took place during the evening hours and has since been the subject of legal proceedings.

Walker, who was at the time living in Bridge Wharf, Chertsey, was reportedly under the influence of alcohol when the attack occurred. On September 25, 2008, he had been socializing in pubs located in Surbiton with his cousin. As they made their way home around 10 pm, Walker’s violent outburst against the dog unfolded at the railway station, leaving onlookers horrified.

According to eyewitness accounts, Walker was seen physically assaulting the dog by punching, kicking, and stamping on its head. The animal, a bull terrier named Daisy, was left whimpering and visibly distressed. Witnesses described their reactions as being “clearly shocked and disturbed by the incident,” emphasizing the brutality of the attack.

Following the incident, Walker was questioned by police. During his interview, he claimed that he had only consumed a few lagers and could not recall the specifics of the attack. He stated that he only remembered waking up in police custody the following morning, suggesting a blackout or memory loss related to the event.

As a result of the attack, Daisy was removed from her owner’s care and taken into police custody on suspicion of being a banned breed. The current whereabouts and condition of the dog remain unknown, raising concerns among animal welfare advocates and the local community.

Walker’s defense solicitor, John Sellars, attempted to downplay the severity of the incident, describing Walker’s actions as “play fighting” with the dog. However, he acknowledged that Walker’s behavior had gone “a bit far” and that there was a breach of the peace involved. He also noted that the dog did not sustain any serious injuries and was otherwise in good health at the time.

In sentencing, Walker received a two-week custodial sentence, which was to run concurrently with an existing sentence for burglary. This meant that he did not serve additional time specifically for the animal cruelty offense. Furthermore, Walker was banned from keeping any animals, although he was permitted to apply for the lifting of this ban after 12 months.

The incident and subsequent legal proceedings drew attention from the Surrey community and highlighted ongoing concerns about animal cruelty and the behavior of individuals under the influence of alcohol.
