SHAH SIKANDER AND HIS CRIME IN WARRINGTON AND PRESTON
A profoundly disturbing case involving a sex offender from Warrington has resulted in a lengthy prison sentence after he was found guilty of grooming and raping a young girl.The perpetrator, Shah Sikander, age 36, was detained following a series of grave crimes that included online predation, child abduction, and sexual assault.
The sequence of events began earlier this year when Sikander started communicating with a 14-year-old girl through Snapchat, a popular social media platform.
During their conversations, Sikander deliberately deceived the young victim by claiming he was a 22-year-old man named Sanchez.
To bolster his false identity, he even sent her a photograph of a younger man, falsely asserting that this was himself.
Throughout their online exchanges, the victim clearly stated that she was under 16 years old, yet Sikander persisted in engaging with her despite this known fact.
As the communication progressed, Sikander's intentions became more sinister.
He offered to send her gifts and talked about the possibility of meeting up for sex.
He also managed to persuade her to send explicit images of herself, exploiting her age and trust.
Having built up the relationship and convinced her to meet in person, Sikander traveled from his residence in Warrington to Poulton-le-Fylde in Lancashire on July 15.
Following this arranged meeting, Sikander drove the girl to a secluded location in Preston, where he committed a sexual assault by raping her.
After the assault, he then drove her to Blackpool town centre and left her there.
The victim, frightened and distressed, confided in her family later that same evening, revealing the details of the traumatic encounter.
Law enforcement authorities swiftly responded to her report, launching a thorough investigation.
Lancashire Police utilized CCTV footage which captured Sikander dropping off the young girl.
This evidence led to his arrest on the M6 motorway the day after the incident.
Confronted with overwhelming evidence against him, Sikander, who at the time was without a fixed address, pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including rape, child abduction, and engaging in sexual communication with a child.
His case was brought before Preston Crown Court, where Judge Guy Mathieson condemned his actions, labeling him a dangerous sexual predator.
Sikander was sentenced to a term of 12 years in prison.
Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for life, and he was placed under an indefinite sexual harm prevention order to protect the community from further potential harm.
This case underscores the severe legal consequences for those who exploit vulnerable children online and in person, and it serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing need for vigilance and protective measures to guard young individuals from predators in the digital age.
