SEBASTIAN BONTA BUSTED IN BURNLEY WITH NEARLY TWO MILLION CHILD ABUSE IMAGES AND VIDEOS
In November 2019, authorities uncovered a disturbing case involving Romanian national Sebastian Cosmin Bonta, who was found to possess an alarming collection of nearly two million indecent videos and images.The investigation revealed that Bonta had meticulously organized these illicit materials into more than 60 detailed folders on his computer, each accompanied by graphic descriptions such as "five-year-olds" and "rape," making it easier for other offenders to access and share child abuse content online.
Burnley Crown Court heard that the child sexual abuse material was accessible via a network, indicating that Bonta was not only in possession but also involved in distributing this heinous content.
Prosecutor Stephen Parker described Bonta as an "intelligent" and "well-educated" man, emphasizing the disturbing nature of his actions.
The youngest child depicted in the material was estimated to be just two years old.
Police also discovered material depicting bestiality on Bonta’s laptop, which was 34 years old at the time.
Police executed a search warrant at a residence on Elmwood Street in Burnley on August 8, following intelligence suggesting that child pornography was being accessed from that location.
Upon entering, officers found three foreign nationals, including Bonta, and questioned them, with Bonta being the individual who spoke the best English.
When questioned about their presence, Bonta admitted, "I have seen pictures of children," revealing his awareness of the illicit content.
He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of making and possessing indecent images of children.
During police interviews, Bonta accepted that the computer devices seized were his but denied downloading any indecent images of children.
However, police found on one device a staggering 7,002 images classified as Category A, which represents the most severe form of child sexual abuse, including images depicting the rape of children.
Additional images included 64 Category B, 62 Category C, and 882 extreme pornographic images.
Prosecutor Parker highlighted that the police had yet to examine over 1.8 million videos and images, some of which could potentially be legal pornography.
Bonta pleaded guilty to three charges: making indecent images of children and creating extreme pornography.
Despite this, there is a possibility of further charges being brought against him as investigations continue.

Parker explained that Bonta was indicted for uploading the images, not filming them, and that additional devices seized from him are still under examination.
He noted that if further evidence of distribution or more Category A, B, or C images is found, it could lead to additional court proceedings.
The investigation involved over 30 defendants, indicating a broad operation targeting online child exploitation networks.
Judge Simon Medland QC sentenced Bonta to 18 months in prison.
In his remarks, the judge described Bonta as a highly intelligent man with a university degree and postgraduate qualification in psychology.
The judge expressed disappointment that such a person, who does not take drugs or drink heavily and has no psychological issues, would be involved in possessing such a vast quantity of unlawful pornography.
Judge Medland also ordered Bonta to be deported upon his release from prison, emphasizing the severity of his crimes and the need for appropriate sanctions to protect the public from such heinous acts.
