SEAN KEEN FROM CANTERBURY SENTENCED TO 18 YEARS FOR HORRIFIC SEXUAL AND CRUELTY OFFENSES

In a case that has shocked the community of Canterbury, Sean Keen has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being found guilty of multiple heinous crimes involving sexual assault and cruelty. The proceedings at Canterbury Crown Court revealed a disturbing pattern of behavior by Keen, who subjected a woman to a series of brutal sexual attacks, in addition to engaging in the abuse of a dog and acts of child cruelty.

During the trial, it was disclosed that Keen, a man who had previously been associated with the International Society for Krishna Consciousness and practiced at their temple for ten years, had made a series of troubling choices despite his vows of celibacy and abstinence from alcohol. The court heard that Keen, often under the influence of alcohol, would indulge in a five-can-a-day lager habit, which appeared to impair his judgment and control. He admitted during police interviews that he frequently 'blacked out' during these episodes, raising concerns about his accountability.

The judge at Canterbury Crown Court described Keen as a 'sex-obsessed tyrant,' emphasizing the severity of his actions. Keen was convicted on three counts of sexual assault, which included multiple incidents involving a woman, and four counts of child cruelty. The court also learned that Keen had forcibly subjected a dog to a sexual act, an act that added to the gravity of his crimes. Furthermore, he was found guilty of exposing his genitals to a child, an act that deeply disturbed the court and the community.

During the trial in August, one of the victims testified that Keen had treated her in a manner akin to a prostitute, highlighting the degrading and abusive nature of his conduct. The investigation was led by Detective Constable Michael Seddon of Kent Police, who expressed his outrage at the case. He stated, “Just what the victims in this case went through over a period of time is unthinkable and the fact Keen refused to admit his guilt at the earliest opportunity meant they had to go through it all again in a trial.”

Detective Seddon praised the victims for their courage in coming forward and sharing their traumatic experiences, acknowledging the difficulty of reliving such events. He also emphasized the strength of the evidence presented, which convinced the jury of Keen’s guilt. The officer concluded by reaffirming Kent Police’s commitment to supporting victims and ensuring that offenders are held accountable, stating, “I hope this gives confidence to any victim of this type of crime that we take it incredibly seriously, offer support and use all powers available to us to ensure those responsible receive justice for their abhorrent actions.”
