SEAN CASEY SENTENCED TO 11 YEARS FOR RAPE IN ORKNEY AND SHETLAND

A man identified as Sean Casey has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 11 years after being convicted of heinous sexual offenses committed against two women in the northern Scottish islands of Shetland and Orkney. The court proceedings, held at the High Court in Aberdeen, brought to light a disturbing pattern of assault spanning over three decades.

Casey, aged 69, was found guilty of multiple charges, including the rape of one woman in Shetland during the period from 1984 to 2016. The court also established his guilt in the rape of a second woman, which took place in both Orkney and Shetland in 1998. In addition to the rapes, Casey was convicted of indecent assault, which occurred between 1998 and 1999 in Shetland.

Following the verdicts, Police Scotland issued a statement expressing their satisfaction with the outcome, emphasizing that Casey would now have to face the serious consequences of his actions. The authorities highlighted the importance of justice for the victims and the community, underscoring their commitment to tackling sexual crimes.

Detective Constable Emma Ellis, involved in the case, stated, "I hope these women will take some form of justice from the outcome in court as they continue to move forward with their lives. I’d urge anyone who has been the victim of a sexual crime, regardless of when it happened, to come forward and report it to us."
