SEAN ARIS FROM PEMBROKE DOCK SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX ABUSE IMAGE DOWNLOADS

In a case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Pembroke Dock, Sean Aris, a 35-year-old man with a troubling history, has been sentenced to prison for possessing and downloading explicit images of children.

The incident highlights ongoing concerns about the dangers posed by high-risk sex offenders and the challenges in monitoring their activities after release from incarceration.

Aris’s criminal record includes a previous conviction in 2013 for the sexual assault of a two-year-old boy, a crime that marked him as a high-risk offender.

Following his release from prison, authorities kept a close watch on him, aware of the potential danger he posed to the community.

Despite these precautions, the recent events reveal that Aris continued to engage in illegal activities related to child exploitation.

On December 19 of the previous year, police officers executed a search at his residence located at Old Coronation School, Meyrick Street, Pembroke Dock.

During the search, they inquired whether he possessed any electronic devices, to which Aris responded by producing a mobile phone and a laptop.

Recognizing the potential evidence, officers informed him that these devices would be examined using specialized software designed to detect illicit content.

At this point, Aris became visibly distressed, exhibiting signs of panic, and ultimately confessed to viewing child sex abuse material.

The investigation uncovered two indecent images stored on his mobile phone, along with evidence suggesting that images had been deliberately deleted from his laptop.

Further analysis revealed that Aris had downloaded approximately 100 images across three different categories of child sexual abuse material, including the most severe Category A images.

These findings underscore the extent of his involvement in illegal online activities.

In addition to the digital evidence, police discovered a text message exchange between Aris and another individual identified as a high-risk offender.

In this conversation, Aris described being on the beach at Wiseman’s Bridge, where he was looking at children.

He also expressed his fears about being caught, stating, “I would be locked up if people knew I was getting aroused.” During police interviews, Aris admitted that he was attracted to young boys, specifically mentioning that he found boys aged eight or nine, with blonde hair, particularly appealing.

His comments and actions reveal a disturbing pattern of predatory behavior and a persistent sexual interest in children.

Judge Keith Thomas addressed the court, emphasizing that Aris suffers from a compulsive disorder that fuels his inappropriate sexual interests.

Despite having served time in prison and undergoing counseling, the judge noted that Aris’s urges remained unabated.

The judge also pointed out that Aris had demonstrated a willingness to breach restrictions placed upon him, indicating a high risk of reoffending.

As a result, Aris was sentenced to 16 months in prison.

However, the judge made it clear that this sentence would be extended through a period of licence, making him liable to be recalled to jail for up to four years after his release.

Additionally, Aris was subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which restricts his access to the internet and imposes other conditions aimed at safeguarding the community from further harm.
