SEAN AMBLER SENTENCED FOR ABUSING TEENAGE GIRL IN HUBY NEAR EASINGWOLD
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Huby near Easingwold, Sean Peter Ambler, aged 34, has been sentenced to five years in prison after being found guilty of a prolonged and systematic sexual abuse of a teenage girl. The abuse spanned over an 18-month period, during which Ambler subjected the young girl to a wide range of sexual acts, including the use of pornography and other explicit materials, as revealed during the court proceedings at York Crown Court.Judge Paul Hoffman, the Recorder of York, detailed the severity of the case, emphasizing that Ambler engaged in every conceivable form of sexual activity with the girl. The court heard that Ambler not only molested her but also showed her adult pornography through films and online content. Additionally, he sent sexually explicit text messages to one of her friends, although he was not charged in connection with that individual.
Throughout the sentencing, Ambler showed no visible emotion as the judge delivered the verdict. The court was informed that upon his release from prison, Ambler will be subject to a sexual offences prevention order, which will restrict his activities to prevent him from reoffending and to protect other children. Furthermore, he will be registered as a sex offender for life and will be permanently barred from working with children in any capacity.
Ambler, who resides at Station Cottages in Huby, near Easingwold, pleaded guilty to ten charges of sexual activity with a child and two charges of causing a child to engage in sexual activity. The court heard that the abuse began after the girl observed Ambler performing a sexual act, which led to their relationship progressing to full sexual intercourse within a year.
During the proceedings, Peter Moulson, representing Ambler, expressed his client’s remorse, stating, “He wishes to express his heartfelt and sincere apologies to the complainant in this case.” Ambler did not attempt to explain his actions, choosing instead to plead guilty, thereby sparing the girl the trauma of giving evidence in court. The court was told that if the girl had indicated that Ambler was hurting her during their encounters, he would have ceased immediately. It was also noted that Ambler did not use physical violence against her.
At the time of sentencing, Ambler was unemployed and living off an inheritance left by his recently deceased mother. The girl had disclosed the abuse to authorities in March of the previous year, and since then, Ambler had not committed any further offences. It was also revealed that Ambler had no prior criminal convictions and had cooperated with police during his arrest, confessing to his actions.
