SCOTT WALLACE CAUGHT WITH CHILD ABUSE IMAGES IN PERTH
In April 2015, authorities uncovered a disturbing case involving Scott Wallace, a claims adviser based in Perth, who was found to possess a large collection of child abuse images and videos. The investigation was initially triggered by suspicions that pointed towards Wallace's mother, but subsequent evidence confirmed his direct involvement.
Wallace, aged 20 at the time, was employed by the insurance company Aviva.
He had previously studied engineering at Perth College but did not complete his studies.
The police received intelligence that led to a search warrant being executed at his residence, which he shared with his mother and other family members.
During the forensic examination of Wallace’s computers, investigators discovered over 300 illicit images depicting children in various states of nudity or being sexually abused.
The children in these images ranged from infants to 14 years old.
In addition to the images, several video files were recovered, further highlighting the severity of the case.
Initially, Wallace denied any involvement, but after a thorough investigation and forensic analysis, he admitted that he was the sole person in the household responsible for seeking out and possessing the illegal material.
The police confirmed that the searches on the computers were conducted using accounts linked to Wallace, which initially led investigators to suspect his mother.
Perth Sheriff Court heard that Wallace had been searching for such material on computers located within his home on Bruce Crescent, Perth, between March 27 and December 7, 2012.
The seriousness of the offense was underscored by Sheriff William Wood, who stated, “It’s plainly a very serious matter and a report has to be obtained before the court can decide best how to deal with this case.
All disposals are available and there may be a strong likelihood of a custodial sentence to follow.” Wallace was formally charged with making or possessing indecent images of children.
His case was adjourned for further reports, and bail was continued.
The court’s proceedings highlighted the gravity of the crime and the potential for significant legal consequences for Wallace, who now faces a judicial process that could result in imprisonment.
