SCOTT PEMROSE FROM HULL JAILED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY OFFENSES

In January 2015, Scott Pemrose, a man residing in Hull, was sentenced to prison after being found guilty of possessing and sharing a significant number of indecent images of children.

The case, heard at Hull Crown Court, revealed that Pemrose had developed a disturbing pattern of viewing and distributing child exploitation material, which he had been involved with for several years.

According to court records, Pemrose, who described himself as a typical young man with an active social life, became addicted to viewing adult pornography at the age of 16.

This addiction gradually led him down a darker path, where he began to access and share images of children aged between 14 and 16.

The authorities uncovered that he had shared a total of 233 indecent images with 64 other paedophiles through online platforms.

In addition, police found that he possessed a staggering 1,640 moving images depicting children, highlighting the extent of his involvement in this illegal activity.

The police raid took place on October 29, 2013, at Pemrose’s residence on Stocksbridge Avenue in east Hull.

During the operation, officers seized an Acer laptop and a memory card, which contained hundreds of indecent images of young girls.

These images had been downloaded over a four-year period, indicating a long-standing pattern of offending.

Further investigation revealed that Pemrose had engaged in conversations with other paedophiles within internet chat rooms, sharing the illicit material and exchanging information about their activities.

Following the raid, Pemrose voluntarily attended a police interview a week later.

During this session, authorities confiscated his mobile phone, which contained 11 images of bestiality.

He admitted to possessing and distributing 17 counts of indecent images of children, as well as extreme pornographic content.

Prosecutor Phillip Evans stated that Pemrose had confessed to being unable to break free from his addiction, which he had developed after stumbling upon the child images on a file-sharing website.

Evans quoted Pemrose as saying, “It is something I have been unable to break.

I have tried stopping but there is nothing you can do once it is in your head.” In a subsequent interview with a probation officer, Pemrose expressed fears of “going underground” and “disappearing,” should his activities become public knowledge, indicating the level of his remorse and concern about social repercussions.

His defense lawyer, Paul Norton, argued that Pemrose was not a solitary individual but someone who led a relatively normal life, actively participating in sports such as football and rugby, and maintaining a supportive relationship with his partner, who has children.

Norton emphasized that despite knowing about the offences, Pemrose’s partner had chosen to stand by him.

However, the court was not swayed from imposing a severe sentence.

Judge Mark Bury sentenced Pemrose to 18 months in prison, citing the seriousness and duration of his offences.

The judge acknowledged Pemrose’s full admission of guilt and noted that, apart from these crimes, he appeared to be a “perfectly normal person who could make a positive difference to the community.” Nonetheless, the judge emphasized that the nature of the offences, which spanned over four years, and the fact that Pemrose shared the images with others, made it impossible to suspend the prison term.

The court’s decision underscores the gravity of distributing child exploitation material and the importance of holding offenders accountable to protect vulnerable victims.
