A serial domestic offender from Fife has been jailed for more than a year and a half.

Scott Murray, 47, of Pentland Drive in Kennoway, appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court to be sentenced via a video link from prison, where he has been remanded since May 23.

Murray was locked up in connection with seven complaints, some of which he admitted and some he was found guilty of after trial.

The offences included acting in a threatening or abusive manner on May 14 this year by stopping his vehicle beside a woman on Methil Brae, Methil, and staring at her.

Six breaches of bail conditions, three non-harassment order breaches and a charge of resisting three PCs who were arresting him in connection at a Kennoway pub are in the charges.

Solicitor David Cranston explained his client had not come to the attention of the law until his mid-30s after a “dysfunctional upbringing” and years in the army.

He has since worked in driving, construction and offshore.

He said: “While it looks bad today – and it is bad today – all of the matters are before the court today.

“I know having not seen him for the first 37 years of his life that he does have the ability to have a normal life.

“I imagine that his period in custody wil have a sobering effect on him.” Sheriff Mark Allan jailed Murray for 20 months altogether and made a non-harassment order protecting his victim until 2030
