SCARLET DRURY FROM SKELTON INVOLVED IN CHILD ABUSE CASE IN TEESSIDE AND REDCAR
In a disturbing case that has shocked the local communities of Skelton, Teesside, and Redcar, 19-year-old Scarlet Drury was brought before Teesside Crown Court to face serious allegations involving the abduction and sexual exploitation of minors. The court proceedings revealed a pattern of troubling behavior that included multiple instances of sexual misconduct against three children, two girls and one boy, all under the age of consent.According to court records, Drury engaged in sexual acts with the three children, with one particularly alarming incident taking place on Redcar beach in Teesside. Witnesses and evidence indicated that she had consumed alcohol during the encounter, which further complicates the case. The prosecutor, Oliver Thorne, detailed how Drury was observed repeatedly kissing, cuddling, and participating in sexual activities with the two young schoolgirls. At one point, she was heard openly bragging about her actions, dismissing the age difference by stating, “age doesn’t matter,” “age is just a number,” and “yeah it’s fine.”
Despite being issued child abduction notices that explicitly prohibited her from communicating with the girls, Drury blatantly disregarded these warnings. When confronted about her behavior, she admitted to knowing it was wrong but appeared resigned to the possibility of facing legal consequences, stating, “I know it’s wrong and the police are taking me to court. I’m probably going to jail for it. I’ll still do it when I get out.”
The court heard how her actions had a profound impact on one of the young girls involved. The girl was described as increasingly nervous and paranoid, blaming herself for what had happened. She struggled emotionally to accept her experiences, which led her to isolate herself from her family and friends. These emotional scars highlighted the severity of Drury’s misconduct and the lasting damage inflicted on her victims.
Further investigations uncovered concerns about activities at Drury’s residence on Wharton Street. It was alleged that children, some dressed in school uniforms, visited her flat where alcohol and cannabis were reportedly present. Authorities believed that the environment was conducive to further exploitation and abuse.
In her defense, Drury admitted to five charges of sexual activity with a child and one charge of taking a child without lawful authority. She expressed remorse for her actions, stating she was very sorry and promising not to offend again. However, the court took a serious view of her conduct, ultimately sentencing her to a one-year custodial sentence, which was suspended for two years. Additionally, she was placed under a year’s supervision and a five-year sexual harm prevention order was imposed to restrict her contact with minors and prevent future offenses.
