SANJEEV GILL'S TRAGIC CRIME IN SOUTHALL: STARVING DOGS LEFT TO DIE

In a heartbreaking case that has shocked the community of Southall, Sanjeev Kumar Gill, also known as Vix Gill, was convicted in 2021 for the cruel neglect and starvation of two beloved dogs. Gill, a company director residing at 44 Lancaster Road, Southall UB1 1NW, was found responsible for leaving two helpless canines to suffer in deplorable conditions, ultimately leading to their deaths.

It was in November 2019 when RSPCA Inspector Mike Beaman was called to investigate a distressing situation at one of the charity's Animal Hospitals. The call came after Gill arrived with two deceased dogs, which he claimed had gone missing the day before. The dogs, a two-year-old male Akita named Cuba and a four-year-old male German Shepherd named Max, were in a state of extreme emaciation. Both animals were found to be severely underweight, with Cuba weighing only 19.4 kilograms and Max just 19.6 kilograms, far below the healthy weight range for their breeds. An average Akita typically weighs between 45 and 59 kilograms, while a German Shepherd usually weighs between 30 and 40 kilograms.

Inspector Beaman described the condition of the dogs in detail, noting that Max’s coat was heavily soiled with mud, and he had faeces stuck to his pelvis and hind limbs. Although Max showed no obvious skin lesions, his overall hygiene was poor. Cuba’s coat was similarly caked in mud, and there was visible damage to the tips of his ears and his left thigh. A post-mortem examination of both dogs revealed no underlying medical conditions that could explain their extreme malnourishment, indicating neglect rather than illness as the cause of their suffering.

Gill’s explanation for the dogs’ deaths was that one of them had gone missing the day before, and he later discovered both animals dead in a communal area near his residence. Despite his claims, the evidence pointed to a tragic case of animal cruelty, with the dogs left to starve in filthy conditions, a situation that could have been easily prevented with proper care and nutrition.

Following the court proceedings, Gill was sentenced to a 12-month community order, which included 160 hours of unpaid work. He was also ordered to pay costs and charges amounting to £1090. Additionally, Gill was disqualified from keeping all animals for five years, a ban that will expire in February 2026. Inspector Beaman expressed his sorrow over the case, emphasizing that the deaths of Cuba and Max were entirely avoidable and underscoring the importance of responsible pet ownership.

It is worth noting that Sanjeev Gill is a director of the Select Group of companies, with his only active directorship being for Select Airways Limited, trading as Happy Days Parking. The group operates across various sectors, including recruitment and security. Gill also maintains a residence at St Andrews House, St Andrew Wood Lane, Iver, Buckinghamshire SL0 0LD, where it is rumored he may also be keeping dogs. Gill has four adult children named Meena, Dylan, Riya, and Sital, and his wife’s name is Sunita Masih. His brother, Sunil Gill, is a co-director of the same group.

This tragic case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of animal welfare and the consequences of neglect, especially in a community like Southall where such incidents resonate deeply with residents and animal lovers alike.
