SANDRA SANGHA'S HORRIFIC CRUELTY IN TIPTON: ROTTWEILER TYSON LEFT TO SUFFER FOR MONTHS
Sandra Sangha, a resident of David Peacock Close in Tipton, has been convicted of severe animal neglect involving her dog, Tyson, a Rottweiler. The heartbreaking case revealed that Tyson was confined in a garden shed for an extended period, during which he was deprived of adequate food and water for up to three months. When authorities discovered Tyson, he was in a critically deteriorated state. The dog was emaciated, with his body weakened from prolonged starvation and dehydration. His skin was severely affected by a chronic condition, covering his entire body from head to tail, with open sores on his legs and pus oozing from his eyes. The condition was so severe that the veterinarian could not even identify his breed due to the crusted and sore skin.
Inspector Dawn Burrell from the RSPCA, who led the investigation, recounted the distressing scene. She explained, “When I looked in the shed, Tyson was collapsed in the corner by a hole, where he was exposed to wind and rain. He was in a terrible way and there was no food or water for him. Sadly he had been in this way for at least three months.”
Burrell further described the dog's condition, stating, “Tyson’s skin was so crusty and sore from his skin condition that I couldn’t tell what breed he was. On top of that, he was very thin and had horrible sores on his legs and pus coming out of his eyes. He was very clearly neglected and was so weak that I had to carry him from the shed to my van to get him to the vets.”
Tragically, Tyson’s condition was so dire that he was euthanized on humane grounds shortly after being taken to the veterinary clinic. The veterinarian confirmed that the dog was in such a poor state that putting him to sleep was the most compassionate decision.
In court, Sandra Sangha pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to her dog. The sentencing included a 15-week prison sentence, which was suspended for two years, along with a total of £415 in costs and charges. Additionally, she was disqualified from owning or keeping any animals for a period of ten years, a ban that will expire in January 2027.
This case highlights the importance of animal welfare and the devastating consequences of neglect. The community and animal welfare organizations continue to emphasize the need for vigilance and responsibility among pet owners to prevent such tragic cases from recurring.
