SANDRA LAW OF FIFE SENTENCED TO THREE YEARS FOR EXTORTION AND THREATS INVOLVING ELDERLY MEN IN FALKIRK AND DUNBLANE

A 39-year-old mother from Fife, Sandra Law, has been sentenced to three years in prison after admitting to threats of sexual extortion against two elderly men, one of whom was a vulnerable pensioner contemplating suicide.

Law, residing on Sir George Bruce Road in Oakley, pleaded guilty to two charges of extortion. Sheriff Wyllie Robertson imposed the sentence and also issued a four-year non-harassment order, forbidding her from contacting either of her victims or entering their neighborhoods.

The court heard that Law targeted a 73-year-old man in Falkirk in May 2018 by visiting his flat in Symon Tower. She arrived with a “sob story,” despite being previously unknown to the victim. Law then threatened to accuse him of accepting sexual favors and warned she would inform his neighbors unless he paid her. She successfully obtained £100 from him before the man contacted police, sharing that he felt suicidal and was contemplating jumping from his tenth-floor window. When police arrived, they found him visibly distressed, shaking, and feeling helpless under what he described as pressure to pay Law more money.

Additionally, the court revealed that Law had engaged in a similar scheme against another 73-year-old man in Dunblane, Perthshire, with whom she had a longstanding acquaintance. When he refused to continue giving her money, citing concerns that it was being spent on drugs, Law threatened to falsely accuse him of sexual assault unless he complied. Over some time, Law extorted a total of £540 from him. This man, who had experienced two strokes and two heart attacks, described himself as an “easy target” for Law’s demands.
