SAMUEL MCCONKIE FROM OLDHAM SENTENCED FOR CRUELTY AND VIOLENCE IN BURY
Samuel McConkie, a resident of Neild Street, Coppice, Oldham OL8 1QG, was convicted in 2023 for a series of serious crimes committed in Bury on December 30, 2022. His actions included a disturbing act of animal cruelty, as he stabbed a French Bulldog with a knife, inflicting severe injuries that required extensive veterinary care. Fortunately, the dog survived the attack, but the injuries sustained were significant and caused unnecessary suffering. In addition to the attack on the dog, McConkie was involved in a violent assault on a woman. This incident was particularly egregious because he was under a restraining order at the time, which explicitly prohibited him from contacting or seeing the woman. His breach of this legal order demonstrated a blatant disregard for court directives and public safety.
McConkie’s violent tendencies extended further when he resisted arrest. During the police intervention, he physically struggled with a male officer, making the situation more dangerous for all involved. His aggression did not stop there; he also assaulted a female NHS emergency worker, adding to the list of his violent offenses. The damage caused to a police van cage during the incident further highlighted the extent of his disruptive behavior.
On February 6, 2023, McConkie appeared in court and pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including animal cruelty, assault, and breach of the restraining order. His guilty plea led to his sentencing, which resulted in a 30-month prison term. The court did not impose any additional bans or restrictions as part of his sentence, leaving his future legal status and restrictions unclear. This case underscores the severity of McConkie’s actions and the justice served in response to his criminal conduct in Oldham and Bury.
