SAMUEL LEWIS FROM SWADLINCOTE SENTENCED FOR NEARLY 25,000 INDECENT IMAGES IN CHESTER

In a significant case that has shocked the local community, Samuel Lewis, a resident of Swadlincote, has been sentenced to prison after being found in possession of an alarming number of indecent images involving children.

The conviction follows a detailed police operation that uncovered the extent of Lewis's disturbing activities.

In July 2021, authorities executed a raid on Lewis's residence, which led to the discovery of a staggering total of 23,978 indecent images.

These images depicted various forms of child abuse, with a disturbing subset classified as Category A, indicating the most severe and heinous types of exploitation, including rape, sexual abuse, and torture.

Among these images, 1,634 were identified as the most serious, highlighting the gravity of the offense.

The investigation revealed that Lewis, who resides on Stockport Road, had not only stored these illicit images but also actively shared them through social media platforms.

Specifically, he was caught transmitting an indecent image via the Kik messaging service, further demonstrating his involvement in distributing such material.

During the court proceedings at Chester Crown Court, Lewis, aged 33, admitted to multiple charges, including the distribution of indecent images, possession of indecent images, and making indecent images.

His guilty plea led to a sentencing that reflects the severity of his crimes.

Recorder Ian Harris sentenced Lewis to two years in prison.

In addition to the custodial sentence, the court imposed a 10-year sexual harm prevention order, which aims to restrict Lewis's access to children and prevent further offending.

He is also subject to a notification requirement for the same period, mandating regular reporting to authorities about his whereabouts and activities.

Furthermore, the court ordered the forfeiture and destruction of several electronic devices seized during the investigation.

These included a computer, five hard drives, a tablet, an iPad Air, and two Samsung mobile phones, all of which contained or were used to store or transmit the illicit images.

The measures taken by the court underscore the seriousness with which such offenses are treated and the ongoing efforts to prevent the proliferation of child abuse material.
