MARLEY DOLMAN FROM SWADLINCOTE INVOLVED IN VIOLENT CHRISTMAS DAY ATTACK AND POLICE CHASE
On Christmas Day, a disturbing incident unfolded involving Marley Dolman, a resident of Woodville near Ashby, who committed a violent assault against his partner in front of their one-year-old child in Swadlincote. The assault was particularly brutal, with Dolman violently punching the woman in her face and head during a heated confrontation inside a car. Witnesses reported that the injuries inflicted were severe enough to require stitches to her lip and eyebrow, highlighting the severity of the attack.Following the assault, Dolman, despite being disqualified from driving, took the vehicle and sped away from the scene. His reckless escape prompted a police pursuit through the streets of Swadlincote. During the chase, Dolman’s behavior became increasingly aggressive and threatening. He assaulted two police officers attempting to apprehend him and refused to comply with their commands to be handcuffed. Instead, he shouted threats and directed racist insults at the sergeant leading the arrest, further escalating the situation.
Dolman’s criminal history is extensive, including previous convictions for violent offenses. His flight ended when he fled down a cul-de-sac and was eventually caught in a nearby park. Despite being detained, he continued to insult the officers at the police station, calling one of them a “p*** b*****d.”
He later pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including assault occasioning actual bodily harm, assaulting emergency workers, driving while disqualified, and racially aggravated threatening behavior. The court sentenced Dolman to 14 months in prison. Additionally, he was banned from driving for three years and seven months. The judge condemned his actions, emphasizing the harm inflicted on the victim and her child, and highlighted that his behavior was disgraceful. The judge also pointed out that Dolman’s previous convictions involved a series of violent crimes, underscoring a pattern of dangerous conduct.
The incident reportedly originated from a parental argument during a day of drinking, which quickly escalated into violence. The victim had stopped outside Dolman’s father’s address, refusing to exit the vehicle. Dolman then threatened her with further violence, refusing to let her leave. The situation intensified when Dolman pulled her towards him and struck her again before seizing the car keys and driving off in a fit of rage.
Later, Dolman drove to a friend’s house, but police quickly located and apprehended him after he attempted to flee on foot through a park, during which he caused injuries to officers. In mitigation, Dolman expressed remorse for his actions, acknowledging that his rage, fueled by alcohol, led to his shameful conduct. The court’s decision reflects the seriousness of the offenses and the need to protect victims from such violent behavior.
