SAMUEL GILMORE AKA IRISH SAMMY SENTENCED IN BALLYMENA FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OFFENSES

A 31-year-old man from Ballymena, Northern Ireland, has received a suspended prison sentence after being convicted of multiple historical sexual abuse crimes. The sentencing took place at Antrim Crown Court on Thursday, 11 November, where Samuel Gilmore, commonly known as Irish Sammy, was handed a 12-month jail term, which will be suspended for a period of three years.

Gilmore was found guilty of several serious offences, including four counts of Indecent Assault, one count of Gross Indecency, and one count of Buggery. These charges relate to acts committed in the past, and the court's decision reflects the gravity of his actions. As part of his sentence, Gilmore is also mandated to register as a sex offender for the next ten years, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his activities during that period.

Following the court proceedings, Detective Constable Gore issued a statement emphasizing the commitment of law enforcement to pursue justice in cases of sexual abuse. He stated, “We have a team of dedicated detectives who will robustly investigate reports and who remain determined to bring anyone involved in any form of abuse before the courts to answer for their crimes, no matter when they occurred.”

He further reassured the public and victims alike, saying, “Please be assured that we have specially trained officers who will treat victims with sensitivity and respect – at every stage of the process.”

Detective Constable Gore also urged anyone who has experienced sexual abuse to come forward, encouraging victims to contact police via the non-emergency number 101 or call 999 in emergencies. He emphasized that victims do not need to visit a police station in person, as detectives can arrange meetings at locations and times that are most convenient for them, ensuring confidentiality and support throughout the reporting process.
