NOTTINGHAM MAN GETS COMMUNITY ORDER AFTER DOMESTIC ASSAULT INVOLVING ALCOHOL
A Nottingham man, Samuel Alulu, caused injury to his wife during a drunken domestic dispute at their home in Aspley.
The incident occurred when his partner threw a glass of whisky at him, and in response, Alulu struck her with the back of his hand, leaving her with a cut that required hospital treatment.
Nottingham Crown Court heard how the glass shattered and caused a wound to her lip, although Alulu did not intend to cause severe injury.
The judge, Steven Coupland, described his actions as out of character, noting he had no previous convictions and that he had been influenced positively by his time remanded in custody.
Alulu, aged 44, pleaded guilty to wounding without intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and was sentenced to a two-year community order.
As part of the sentence, he was ordered to undertake 35 rehabilitation sessions and perform 100 hours of unpaid work.
The incident took place in November last year when Alulu was drinking whisky with friends, and his partner returned home from work with a second bottle.
An argument ensued, leading to her throwing alcohol over him, after which he reacted violently.
The court was told the children were in the house but did not witness the event.
