SAMANTHA PALMER AND CARL BODENHAM SENTENCED IN DUDLEY AND WREN’S NEST SEX OFFENSES
In a disturbing case that has shocked the communities of Dudley and Wren’s Nest, a woman named Samantha Palmer, aged 34, has been sentenced to over a year in prison for her involvement in a series of sexual activities with a vulnerable schoolboy. The offences took place in the Wren’s Nest area, and the case was brought to light after disturbing evidence was uncovered by authorities.Palmer, who resides on Hillside Road in Wren’s Nest, was found guilty of three charges related to causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. Her former partner, Carl Bodenham, of Bluebell Road, was also convicted and sentenced to 18 months in prison for his role in the offences. The judge, John Warner, presided over the case at Wolverhampton Crown Court and made it clear that both individuals had engaged in these acts willingly and with enthusiasm, solely for their own gratification.
During the sentencing, Judge Warner emphasized that both Palmer and Bodenham were fully aware that their actions were wrong. The court identified Bodenham as the primary instigator, describing him as the “leading light” behind the offending. Bodenham admitted to ten charges, which included taking and making indecent photographs of a child under 16 years of age. Palmer, on her part, admitted to three charges involving the incitement of a minor to participate in sexual activities.
The case came to public attention after the victim’s mother contacted Dudley Council’s Children’s Services, having become aware of the inappropriate conduct. Following this, police investigations were launched, leading to the seizure of a mobile phone from Bodenham. Prosecutor Helena Miller revealed that the device contained a memory chip with three folders holding 18 indecent photographs and 16 videos involving the schoolboy. The images depicted Palmer dancing naked, with the boy being encouraged to touch her, which added to the severity of the charges.
Defense attorneys for Bodenham and Palmer attempted to mitigate their clients’ actions. Darron Whitehead, representing Bodenham, argued that at no point was the boy naked or physically touched by Bodenham, and that there had been no threats, intimidation, or coercion involved. Meanwhile, Sharonjit Bahia, defending Palmer, described her client’s relationship with Bodenham as “odd” and recounted that her home had been vandalized, with windows smashed after the allegations became public. Police had advised Palmer to leave her residence for her safety.
In addition to their prison sentences, both Palmer and Bodenham were ordered to register as sex offenders for a period of ten years. The court also prohibited them from working with children and imposed indefinite sexual offenders prohibition orders to safeguard the public from potential future harm. The case has left a lasting impact on the local communities of Dudley and Wren’s Nest, highlighting the importance of vigilance and swift action in protecting vulnerable minors from exploitation.
