KAMRAN SAEED FROM CARDENDEN SENTENCED FOR SEX OFFENDER BREACH AND CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
Kamran Saeed, a 41-year-old resident of Orebank Road in the town of Cardenden, has been handed a significant prison sentence following his violation of a Sexual Offenders Prevention Order (SOPO). The court proceedings revealed that Saeed deliberately flouted the restrictions imposed upon him, which included prohibitions against owning a smartphone and contacting females under the age of 16. Despite these clear legal boundaries, Saeed engaged in communication with a teenage girl via Snapchat, a popular social media platform, over a period of three months.During this time, the girl sent Saeed a photograph that was classified as an indecent image of a 14-year-old child, specifically categorized as a category C image, indicating a certain level of severity. The court was informed that Saeed had actively installed Snapchat on his device and maintained contact with a girl he was aware was a minor, thereby breaching the conditions of his SOPO. These actions demonstrated a blatant disregard for the legal restrictions placed upon him and raised serious concerns about his intentions and the potential risk to vulnerable individuals.
Sheriff Susan Duff expressed her grave concern regarding Saeed's behavior, emphasizing that his risk to the community could not be effectively managed through community supervision. She described Saeed as manipulative and deceitful, highlighting his apparent lack of regard for others and the potential danger he posed. The court ultimately sentenced Saeed to 140 weeks in prison, a sentence reflecting the seriousness of his offenses. Additionally, he was ordered to be placed on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities.
It was also revealed that Saeed had previously admitted to breaching his SOPO between June 15 and September 15, 2020. During that period, he acknowledged possessing an indecent photograph of a child, further underscoring his pattern of offending. The court made it clear that his actions represented a significant breach of legal restrictions and posed a substantial risk to the community, especially to minors. The case underscores the importance of strict enforcement of orders designed to protect vulnerable individuals from predatory behavior and exploitation.
