RYAN WALKER FROM CARLISLE JAILED FOR SEX OFFENCES INVOLVING A CHILD
A young man from Carlisle has been sentenced to detention after being found guilty of engaging in inappropriate and illegal communications with a minor.Ryan Walker, aged 18, appeared before Carlisle Crown Court on Thursday, where he received a 14-month youth detention order following his guilty plea to multiple charges related to sexual misconduct.
According to court proceedings, Walker was involved in illicit online exchanges with a child, which included sending and receiving messages of a sexual nature.
In addition to these communications, he was found to have caused a child to view an indecent image, a serious offense that underscores the gravity of his actions.
Furthermore, Walker was found to have failed in his legal obligation to notify authorities about his whereabouts and personal details as required by the sex offenders register.
This breach of notification requirements was uncovered during the investigation, which involved the seizure of his phone.
Authorities discovered several undeclared online accounts linked to Walker, as well as a new passport that he had not reported to police, despite being fully aware of his legal responsibilities.
Det Con Anna Ritson of Cumbria Police provided insight into the investigation, stating, “Officers located a number of online usernames and a new passport which had not been notified to police by Walker, who was well aware of his notification requirements.” She emphasized the importance of such measures, saying, “Our main priority is to protect vulnerable people from sexual harm and we work hard to monitor and manage people who are subject to such orders.” Walker’s case highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat online sexual offenses and ensure that individuals who pose a risk to the community are held accountable for their actions, especially when they violate legal obligations designed to safeguard the public.
