RYAN SUTTON FROM WORCESTER SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING 10-YEAR-OLD IN FINE DON
A 24-year-old man named Ryan Sutton has been sentenced to six years in prison after admitting to the heinous crime of raping a 10-year-old girl.The disturbing case unfolded after Sutton, who resides in Worcester, engaged in a grooming process that manipulated the young girl into believing they shared a genuine romantic relationship.
According to reports, Sutton first established contact with the girl through the popular messaging application Snapchat in March 2023.
Over the course of their communication, Sutton exchanged numerous messages and images, gradually building a false sense of intimacy.
As their interaction progressed, the contact shifted from messaging to more personal forms of communication, including text messages, phone calls, and FaceTime video chats.
This persistent communication led the young girl to believe that Sutton was her boyfriend and that he was genuinely in love with her, a manipulation tactic often used by predators to exploit vulnerable children.
On April 23, 2023, Sutton traveled from his home in Worcestershire to meet the girl in Finedon.
The meeting took a sinister turn when the pair was later discovered together in a woodland area.
Sutton, upon realizing they had been spotted, fled the scene.
Authorities quickly responded, and Sutton was apprehended while attempting to leave the area by car.
The police investigation was initiated by the Child Abuse Investigation Unit (CAIU) of Northamptonshire Police, who expressed concern over the possibility that Sutton had engaged in sexual contact with the young girl.
During the arrest, officers found condoms in Sutton’s bag, raising suspicions of sexual activity.
However, at that time, the victim did not disclose any abuse, and it was not until nearly three months later that she bravely confided in authorities about the assault.
Her disclosures were subsequently corroborated by forensic evidence, confirming that Sutton had indeed raped and sexually assaulted her.
Following the investigation, Sutton was formally charged with multiple serious offenses, including the rape of a girl under 13, assault of a girl under 13 by touching, assault of a girl under 13 by penetration, engaging in sexual communication with a child, and meeting a girl under 16 following grooming.
On February 22, 2024, Sutton, who is from Astwood Road, Worcester, pleaded guilty to all charges in court.
His sentencing took place on Thursday, December 19, at Northampton Crown Court.
The judge sentenced Sutton to six years in prison, with an additional year to be served on extended licence.
Furthermore, Sutton was subjected to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will remain on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to protect the community from further harm.
