MAY 2006 Paedophile teacher jailed A TEACHER and IT co-ordinator at a Brent primary school was sentenced to two-and-a-half years by Harrow Crown Court on Friday for making and distributing indecent images of children. Ryan Price, 41, of Sycamore Grove, Kingsbury, was found guilty of 18 charges of making, possessing and distributing the images, which included a picture recorded on his mobile phone of a half-naked seven-year-old pupil from his class, on March 22. He had hidden other images of child abuse on various computers. Price pleaded not guilty to 22 charges on March 6. He was found not guilty of three and one other associated charge was dropped. Price has been banned from working with children and will stay on the Sex Offenders’ Register for the rest of his life. A sexual offenders’ prevention order will remain in place against him until 2029. Police received an allegation against Price from a female teacher at his school in November 2003. She said that he had lent her a supposedly blank CD that contained images of children. Officers searched the school and seized computer equipment. A further search was made at Price’s home address, from where more computer equipment was taken, and Price was arrested. A number of stills and movies containing child abuse were discovered and the image of the seven-year-old was found on his mobile phone. New evidence came to light when another teacher at the school reported finding images of child abuse on a laptop computer she had been given by Price. As IT co-ordinator, Price was in charge of allocating laptops to other teachers and detectives proved that Price was using the computer when the images were saved. He was arrested in Devon in May 2004 by detectives from Wembley CID and charged. Detective Chief Inspector Raffaele D’Orsi said: “This conviction is the result of a complex two-and-a-half-year investigation, which has concluded with Price being convicted of making, possessing and distributing some of the most repugnant and abusive images of young girls that I have ever seen. “It is my firm belief that Price used his profession as a faade to conceal his habits and I would like to thank everyone who has played a part in bringing him to justice.”
