RYAN PEET SENTENCED IN SHEFFIELD FOR PREDATORY SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST TEENS
A paedophile who worked as a sandwich maker has been sentenced to prison for engaging in sexual activities with a teenage schoolgirl and later attempting to contact her friend via Instagram.Ryan Peet, whose age at the time of conviction was not disclosed, had been employed at a Subway shop in 2018 when he first met his victim and added her on Snapchat.
Sheffield Crown Court was told that Peet, demonstrating predatory behavior, likely knew her age since he had seen her wearing her school uniform multiple times, though this did not prevent him from pursuing her.
Prosecutor Ian West stated that Peet treated the underage girl to a McDonald's meal in Rotherham and subsequently had sex with her in his flat in Doncaster.
On one occasion, he took her to the zoo the following day.
The court heard they engaged in sexual activity on ten occasions, including meetings at petrol stations and secluded areas near a driving range.
The relationship was uncovered when the girl’s family discovered the contact and made a formal police complaint.
Mr.
West also revealed that after they stopped meeting and communicating, Peet shifted his attention to the girl’s friend, messaging her on Instagram.
Despite Peet’s attempts to persuade her to send explicit pictures, she refused.
Peet’s arrest came in January 2021 when police raided his home and seized a mobile phone and laptop.
Forensic analysis of the devices revealed 441 indecent images of children.
Peet, of Rosedale Close, Sheffield, pleaded guilty to charges including sexual activity with a child, sexual communication with a child, and making indecent images.
During sentencing, Recorder Jonathan Sandiford described Peet's conduct as predatory, noting that he preyed on young girls for feelings of power and control.
He observed similarities in the grooming behaviors displayed toward his victims, most of whom were under 16 and some under 13, emphasizing that Peet targeted them for his sexual gratification.
Peet was sentenced to a total extended term of nine years, comprising six years in custody and an additional three years on license.
