RYAN PARKER FROM BLACKBURN CAUGHT VIEWING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY IN SHOCKING CASE
Ryan Parker, a 39-year-old resident of Whalley Road in Blackburn, has been convicted of possessing indecent images of children, a crime that has shocked the local community and drawn significant attention from law enforcement authorities.The incident came to light after Lancashire Police executed a search warrant at Parker’s home on March 29 of the previous year, following credible evidence indicating that he had been viewing child pornography.
During the police visit, Parker cooperated fully, allowing officers into his residence and admitting that he had been viewing such images while under the influence of drugs.
The authorities found him in a state that suggested ongoing drug use, with empty snap bags believed to have contained illicit substances, further highlighting his struggles with addiction.
In a move that demonstrated transparency, Parker handed over his laptop, mobile phone, and the passwords to these devices, including access to his iCloud account, to facilitate the investigation.
Subsequent analysis of the devices revealed a disturbing pattern: over a period of three years, Parker had viewed a total of 506 images depicting children aged between five and twelve years old.
The severity of the case was underscored by the fact that 296 of these images were classified as some of the most serious types of indecent material.
The court was informed that Parker’s actions were not isolated but spanned a significant period, indicating a troubling pattern of behavior.
In his defense, Parker’s legal representative, Shirlie Duckworth, emphasized that her client had sought help prior to his arrest.
She explained that Parker had engaged in rehabilitation programs aimed at overcoming his drug addiction and addressing his involvement with child pornography.
Duckworth described Parker as a man of previously good character, with no prior convictions, and expressed that he had shown genuine remorse for his actions.
She pointed out that it is uncommon for courts to see defendants who actively seek treatment before being charged.
At the hearing, Parker pleaded guilty to three counts of possession of indecent photographs of children.
Judge Daniel Prowse sentenced him to ten months in prison, but this sentence was suspended for 18 months, allowing Parker to serve his sentence outside of custody under strict conditions.
The judge also ordered Parker to complete 25 days of rehabilitation and perform 150 hours of unpaid community work.
In his remarks, Judge Prowse acknowledged the seriousness of the images involved and the fact that Parker had cooperated with police, providing access to his devices and passwords.
He noted that Parker had engaged with online groups on platforms such as Twitter, Gmail, and Kick, where these images were shared and circulated.
Despite the leniency of the sentence, the judge made it clear that any future offending would result in immediate imprisonment.
Parker was also placed on the sex offender register for ten years and issued a sexual harm prevention order for the same duration, reflecting the gravity of his crimes and the need for ongoing monitoring and protection of the public.
