RYAN MCLELLAND FROM SALTCOATS SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEXUAL OFFENCES IN KILMARNOCK
In a case that has shocked the local community, Ryan McLelland, aged 41 and residing in Saltcoats, was brought before Kilmarnock Sheriff Court to face serious allegations of child sexual abuse. The court proceedings revealed a disturbing pattern of criminal behavior involving a young girl under the age of 13.McLelland pleaded guilty to five separate charges related to his heinous acts. These included four counts of sexual assault on a child under 13, as well as inciting or causing the young girl to view indecent material. The court was informed that the abuse took place during 2013 at a property located in West Kilbride, where McLelland engaged in digital penetration of the female victim, an act that constitutes a grave violation of her innocence and trust.
Further details presented during the trial indicated that McLelland had used sexually explicit verbal communication to groom the young girl, a tactic often employed by predators to manipulate and control their victims. He was also found guilty of causing her to view a sexually indecent photograph and of inducing her to watch video footage of a sexual nature on his mobile phone, actions that compounded the severity of his offenses.
Additional allegations included physical molestation, where McLelland was accused of grabbing the girl’s breasts and sexually touching other intimate parts of her body during separate incidents. These acts of abuse highlight a pattern of predatory behavior that inflicted significant harm on the young victim.
The court sentenced Ryan McLelland to a total of 30 months in prison for his crimes. Upon his release, he will be required to register as a sex offender, a measure intended to monitor and prevent further offenses. The case underscores the importance of vigilance and justice in protecting vulnerable children from sexual predators within communities like Saltcoats and West Kilbride.
