LOUTH MAN RYAN LONGDON SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES AGAINST YOUNG GIRL IN LINCOLN

A man from Louth, identified as Ryan Longdon, has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison after admitting to multiple sexual assaults involving a young girl. The case was heard at Lincoln Crown Court, where it was revealed that Longdon's arrest followed disclosures made by the victim about his inappropriate behavior.

According to the prosecution, Tom Heath, the young girl was interviewed on video by specially trained police officers. During this interview, she reported that Longdon had been touching her in an intimate manner on several occasions. Despite the initial interview, Longdon chose not to comment when questioned again after forensic evidence was presented, which further implicated him in the offenses.

Eventually, Longdon, who resides on Normandy Close in Louth, admitted to three separate charges related to the abuse of the young girl. These charges included one count of sexual assault on a child under the age of 13, another count involving at least five incidents of touching, and a third charge of causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity.

During the sentencing hearing, defense lawyer Paul O'Shea provided context for Longdon’s circumstances, highlighting that the defendant had been profoundly affected by the death of his mother. O'Shea also emphasized that Longdon suffers from several conditions, including being on the autistic spectrum and having Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

He further explained that Longdon faces learning difficulties, as well as challenges with language and communication, which rendered him vulnerable. O'Shea argued that Longdon was at significant risk of facing considerable difficulties if placed in a custodial environment, acknowledging the emotional impact of the sentence on his client.

Despite these mitigating factors, Recorder John Hardy KC emphasized the seriousness of the crimes committed. While acknowledging Longdon’s personal hardships and the loss of his mother, the judge made it clear that the offenses involved a young girl and constituted serious wrongdoing. The court recognized the gravity of the crimes and the need for appropriate punishment.

In addition to the prison sentence, Longdon was subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which aims to restrict his behavior and protect the public. Furthermore, he will be required to register as a sex offender, ensuring ongoing monitoring and community safety measures.
