RYAN JONES FROM DUKINFIELD AND WYTHENSHAWE ESCAPES PRISON DESPITE SEXUAL ABUSE OF YOUNG GIRLS

In a case that has shocked the local communities of Dukinfield and Wythenshawe, Ryan Lee Jones, aged 30, narrowly avoided a prison sentence after admitting to multiple sexual offences involving young girls. Jones, who was formerly residing in Wythenshawe but has since moved to Dukinfield, appeared before Manchester Crown Court in November 2017 to face charges related to his disturbing conduct.

During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Jones had sexually assaulted two young girls over a span of four years. The victims, who were just four and seven years old at the time the abuse began, endured repeated assaults by Jones, who was himself a teenager at the time of the offences. The court heard that Jones targeted these vulnerable children for his own sexual gratification, a revelation that has caused widespread outrage among community members and advocates for child protection.

Despite the severity of his crimes, the judge sentenced Jones to an 18-month community order, a decision that has sparked controversy and concern among those who believe justice has not been fully served. In addition to the community order, Jones was subjected to a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and was mandated to register as a sex offender for the same period. An indefinite restraining order was also imposed to prevent any contact with the victims or their families.

It was further disclosed during the court hearing that Jones was previously known to police for molesting another young girl in 2004, an incident for which he received only a caution. This prior record has added to the distress and anger expressed by the victims and their families, who feel that the justice system has failed to adequately punish or rehabilitate him.

One of the victims, a woman who cannot be named for legal reasons, bravely spoke out about her ordeal. She recounted her childhood abuse, which began when she was just four years old, and expressed her feelings of betrayal and disappointment with the legal outcome. She described her ongoing struggles with mental health issues, including PTSD, nightmares, and anxiety, which she attributes to the trauma inflicted by Jones.

She shared her painful journey of finally reporting the abuse to the police shortly before her 18th birthday, after years of suffering in silence. Her decision to come forward was driven by a desire to seek justice and prevent others from experiencing similar harm. Since then, she has undergone extensive mental health treatment, including hospitalizations, and continues to cope with the lasting effects of her trauma.

In her own words, she explained, “When I leave the house, I feel like everyone around me knows what happened. It is only the medication I am on that keeps me going day-to-day.” Her story highlights the profound and lasting impact of childhood sexual abuse and raises questions about the adequacy of the justice system in addressing such heinous crimes.

Ryan Jones, who was living at Ogden Square in Dukinfield at the time of his sentencing, pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent assault committed between 2000 and 2002. His sentencing, which took place at Manchester Crown Court last month, resulted in a community order with supervision for 18 months, a 10-year sexual harm prevention order, and a requirement to register as a sex offender for 10 years. The case continues to resonate within the community, emphasizing the ongoing need for vigilance and support for victims of sexual abuse.
