INVERGORDON MAN JAILED FOR SMASHING EX-PARTNER’S CAR WINDOWS AND THREATENING VIOLENCE
A man named Ryan Hansen, aged 28, was caught on CCTV smashing the windows of his ex-partner’s car and later sent threatening messages. The incident occurred after Hansen called at the woman's home in Nigg one evening around 11.50 pm, but she did not answer.
The following morning, she discovered her vehicle's driver’s side window had been smashed.
Review of CCTV footage confirmed Hansen’s responsibility for the damage.
Hansen also contacted the woman’s sister via Snapchat, stating: "I’ll be cleaning nothing, I’ll be back tonight to torch it." Hansen appeared at Tain Sheriff Court to admit to wilful or reckless damage and sending threatening messages.
The court was told that Hansen, a mechanic, estimated the cost of the damage at around £40 per window and £250 for fitting.
Sheriff Mark Lindsay ordered Hansen to pay £1,000 in compensation to the woman and imposed a non-harassment order preventing him from contacting her for three years.
Hansen expressed remorse for his actions, which he claimed stemmed from frustration over family issues.
