MAN, 64, ADMITS SEXUAL ASSAULT ON HIGHLAND BUS
A 64-year-old man named Duncan Morrison has admitted to sexually assaulting a teenager on a bus in Invergordon. The incident occurred on January 6 of the previous year, when Morrison signaled the 15-year-old girl to sit next to him and asked her where she lived.
He then moved his hand up her thigh, causing her to feel panicked.
A fellow passenger intervened, shouting at Morrison to stop.
The teenage girl managed to take a photograph of Morrison before he disembarked, and the incident was reported to police.
Morrison appeared at Tain Sheriff Court to face a single charge of sexual assault, and he admitted to the offence.
The court heard that Morrison appeared intoxicated when he boarded the bus, and that he had no recollection of the event.
His solicitor stated that Morrison had been drinking near the bus station and that this conduct was out of character.
Morrison was placed on the sex offenders register with immediate effect, with the length of registration to be decided at sentencing.
The sheriff deferred sentencing pending a social work report.
