DEWSBURY MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO CRIMINAL DAMAGE AFTER WINDOW SMASH
A man who smashed his ex's window after going round to collect his belongings admitted that his behaviour was 'stupid.' Ryan Firth pleaded guilty to a charge of criminal damage when he appeared at Kirklees Magistrates' Court.Shamaila Qureshi, prosecuting, said that the incident happened on July 3 when the couple had separated.
Firth, 23, went round to his ex's home in Pearl Street, Batley, to collect his belongings from the garage.
She allowed him in while she was away from the house and he'd left by the time she returned.
Ms Qureshi said: “A short time later she saw him in the driveway, shouting abuse towards her.
“She goes inside, hears a loud bang and looks to see that the side window had been smashed.” Firth, of Mill Lane in Dewsbury, was arrested and admitted causing damage to the rented property.
Magistrates were told that he had no convictions prior to the incident.
He said to them: "There's nowt to say, I've said all I need to say to police." He admitted to smashing the window and said it was 'stupid.' "It was out of character - we're still talking." Magistrates ordered the delivery driver to pay £200 compensation to his ex for repairs.
He will also pay £85 costs plus a £21 victim surcharge.
