RYAN EDWARDS SOUTHPORT DOG ABUSER AND CRIMINAL STRIKES AGAIN IN LIVERPOOL
Ryan Thomas Edwards, born on January 18, 1996, and residing on Slackeys Lane in Southport PR9 8HN, has a troubling history of criminal behavior that spans several years and includes both animal cruelty and serious violent offenses. His latest actions, along with his past convictions, paint a disturbing picture of a repeat offender with a pattern of violence and disregard for the law.In 2016, Edwards was convicted of a heinous act involving a defenseless dog. The incident took place at a family home in Southport, where he was caught on camera dragging a terrified Staffordshire Bull Terrier named Marley by her collar. The dog, clearly frightened and reluctant to approach him, was subjected to a brutal assault when Edwards, in a fit of rage, lifted her by the head and forcefully threw her against a wall, causing her to be stunned and frozen in place. This act of cruelty was part of a broader pattern of abuse that Edwards had been involved in.
At the time, Edwards denied causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal but ultimately changed his plea to guilty at the last minute. The court proceedings revealed that the incident occurred on November 6, 2015, at the family’s former residence in Southport. Zoe Edwards, the defendant’s sister, was present in her bedroom with Marley when the attack happened. Prosecutor Bernice Campbell described how Edwards called the dog over, but Marley, visibly shaking and scared, hesitated to approach. Edwards then took her outside, only to return and attempt to call her again. When the dog refused, he forcibly grabbed her collar, dragged her towards him, and then, in a violent act, threw her four feet into a wall, leaving her stunned.
The court also heard about Edwards’ violent assault on his sister, Zoe. After the incident with Marley, Edwards launched himself at Zoe, punching her in the face, grabbing her by the hair, and hitting her in the ribs. The attack resulted in Zoe suffering hair loss and a sore head. Their mother intervened, but Edwards then grabbed Zoe by the throat before releasing her. These violent episodes led to Edwards being convicted of assault and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, for which he was sentenced to six months in prison the previous month. Additionally, he received a 28-day sentence to run concurrently with his existing sentence and was handed a ten-year ban on keeping animals.
Despite these legal consequences, Edwards continued his criminal activities. In February 2019, he was fined after breaching his ban on owning animals, a violation that underscored his ongoing disregard for the law. His criminal record expanded further in August 2021 when he was sentenced to four years and eight months in prison for his involvement in a drug supply conspiracy linked to the High Parkers organized crime group. Court records indicated his address as Alexandra Road, Southport, and confirmed his guilty plea to conspiracy to supply Class A drugs, with the operation based in the Sefton area of Liverpool.
Edwards’ criminal history demonstrates a troubling pattern of violence, animal cruelty, and involvement in organized crime, making him a significant concern for law enforcement and the community in Southport and beyond.
