NAIRN MAN RYAN DAVIS CAUGHT WITH CHILD INDECENT IMAGES IN NAIRN AND ORDERED TO PERFORM UNPAID WORK

In a serious case that has shocked the local community of Nairn, Ryan Davis, a 41-year-old resident of Burnside, was found to be in possession of a significant number of indecent images of children. The police launched an operation at Davis’s home after receiving credible intelligence indicating that illegal images were being accessed from his property.

During a detailed search conducted under a warrant on February 9 of the previous year, officers uncovered a Samsung laptop and an external hard drive. A thorough examination of these devices revealed a disturbing collection of 199 indecent images of children, all classified as Category C. Among these, 64 images were inaccessible, while 135 were accessible, depicting children in explicit and illegal content.

The investigation revealed that Davis had previously admitted to charges related to the creation and possession of such images. Specifically, he pleaded guilty to taking, permitting to be taken, or making indecent images of children between January 1, 2021, and February 2, 2022. Additionally, he admitted to possessing these images from January 17, 2022, to February 9, 2022.

At a court hearing, the fiscal depute Martina Eastwood explained that police had been provided with intelligence suggesting that the images were being accessed from Davis’s home. The evidence was solid enough to warrant a search, which led to the seizure of the devices containing the illicit material.

In sentencing, Sheriff Frazer imposed a community payback order on Davis, requiring him to complete 180 hours of unpaid work. The order also includes two years of supervised probation and the placement of Davis on the sex offender’s register for the same duration. This case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat the distribution and possession of illegal images and protect vulnerable children from exploitation.
