COURT SPARES WOMAN BEATER JAIL AS HE WEEPS IN COURT

An abusive partner named Ryan Battle, aged 39, who began a relationship with his girlfriend in 2020, was involved in multiple acts of violence against her.

He attacked her on three separate occasions.

The first incident on October 3, 2020, involved him grabbing her by the throat, throwing her to the floor, and kicking her, which resulted in bruising to her chest, hip, and shin.

The second assault on January 23, 2021, saw him kicking and punching her in the face and smashing her mobile phone after she questioned him about messages on his device.

The third incident on February 5, 2021, occurred while he was intoxicated; he became verbally abusive, pulled and pushed her into household items, and struck her with a backhand.

He initially denied these offences but later pleaded guilty to two counts of common assault, one of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and criminal damage.

The court sentenced him to a nine-month suspended sentence for the violence, a six-month sentence for actual bodily harm, and concurrent one-month sentences for the other offences.

Additionally, a five-year restraining order was issued, and he was ordered to pay £250 in compensation and a victim surcharge.

The judge noted that much of his offending was linked to alcohol and emphasized the importance of his ongoing rehabilitation efforts.
