EX-SCHOOL WORKER RUSSELL PRICE SECRETLY RECORDED TEEN GIRL IN SHOWER
An ex-primary school worker from Caerphilly borough secretly recorded a teenage girl for his own sexual gratification, a court has heard.Russell Price, 41, from Machen, recorded the girl on cameras he’d set up in a shower and a second location, and would then watch the videos he’d recorded, Newport Magistrates' Court heard on Wednesday, October 8.
Price was said to be well known in the region as someone who toured pubs and clubs with his band in his free time, while he worked at a primary school.
The court heard Price was a trusted member of his community, particularly among young people with whom he would work with daily.
The court heard Price was arrested by Gwent Police.
He pleaded guilty to a single charge of voyeurism at the first opportunity and was sentenced this week.
The victim, who has the right to lifelong anonymity, wrote in a victim impact statement that she felt “unsafe and in a constant state of hyper vigilance”.
She added: “I feel it affects me every day and where I go.” Andrew Gostley, for Price, said his client had no previous convictions and one caution in 2007.
He said his client, who is in receipt of redundancy pay, had been dealing with mental health issues for a number of years, particularly since the death of his brother in 2019.
He told the court Price pleaded guilty early and said he had arrived at court with “a great deal of trepidation”.
“He accepts he needs to be punished and punished severely,” Mr Gostley said.
Judge Sophie Toms told Price in the dock: "This will have a lifelong impact on her.
Her ability to feel safe (...) has been jeopardised by you."
