RUSSELL HANNAH FROM MARLOW SENTENCED TO TWO YEARS FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES INVOLVING PRE-TEEN GIRLS IN AYLESBURY

In August 2008, a 40-year-old man from Marlow, Russell Hannah, was sentenced to two years in prison after admitting to multiple sexual offences involving three young girls, all in their pre-teen years. Hannah, formerly residing at Newfield Garden, received two concurrent two-year prison sentences. He pleaded guilty to seven charges related to the girls, with the offences occurring when they were under 14.

The court heard that one of the sentences covered two cases of indecent assault, while the other encompassed two indecent assaults, two sexual assaults, and one incident of sexual activity with someone under 14. Prosecutor Katie Mallison stated, "All the girls were traumatised by what happened and there has been a lasting effect on them."

Judge Seddon Cripps remarked, "Your behaviour must have affected the victims," and acknowledged that the prison term was "certainly far less than those involved will think appropriate." He noted, however, that Hannah’s early guilty plea was a factor in his decision, as it spared the victims from having to testify in court.

Defense lawyer Warwick Aleeson commented, "He fully acknowledges the seriousness of what he has done and he is sorry for what he has done. He is willing to take any help that is offered to him and he said he will never commit an offence like this again."

As part of his sentence, Hannah has been placed on the sex offenders’ register for ten years, is prohibited from working with children, and has been issued a Sexual Prevention Order. Additionally, eight charges against him will remain on file for future reference.
