ROY/CLIVE MILTON FROM WORCESTER JAILED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES AT LOCAL CHURCH

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Worcester, two brothers, Roy Milton and Clive Milton, have been convicted and sentenced for a series of heinous sexual offences involving minors.

The brothers, who sought refuge in a local church to confess their sins, ultimately revealed a dark history of abuse that spanned several years and involved multiple victims.

Clive Milton, aged 46 and residing on Wells Road in Worcester, received a total prison sentence of 18 years after being found guilty of multiple counts of sexual assault, indecency, and rape.

His crimes primarily involved a girl under the age of 16 and a boy under 13, with the offences occurring between the late 1980s and early 2000s.

The court heard that Clive had assaulted the boy multiple times from the age of 10, with the abuse continuing over a period of three years, and had raped him on three to ten occasions.

The girl, who was between 13 and 14 years old at the time, was subjected to indecent acts and rape, with the abuse taking place between 1998 and 2000.

Unbeknownst to the court at the time, she was also a victim of her brother.

Roy Milton, aged 50 and of no fixed address, was sentenced to 10 years in prison after being convicted of offences involving two young girls, one of whom was the same girl abused by his brother.

His crimes included seven counts of indecency with a child, eight counts of indecent assault, and one count of sexual activity with a minor, all committed in the late 1990s.

The jury unanimously found Roy guilty of these charges, which involved acts of indecency and assault against the two girls, with one victim being the same girl who was also abused by Clive.

Both brothers had initially appeared at Worcester Crown Court after confessing their sins at the Consuming Fires Ministry, a church based in Worcester, in late 2011.

During their time at the church, they received counselling from Pastor Geraint Hill and his wife Debra.

Both brothers admitted to having committed terrible acts, and, following encouragement from the church leaders, they approached the police to disclose their crimes.

However, during subsequent investigations, the brothers later denied their confessions, complicating the case.

Clive Milton was not present in court to hear his sentencing, as he was taken ill en route to prison after being convicted the previous day.

He was detained in hospital, and the judge, Michael Cullum, sentenced him in his absence.

The judge also lifted reporting restrictions on Roy Milton’s trial, which had previously been kept confidential until both cases concluded.

During the trial of Roy Milton, a jury of three men and nine women found him guilty on all counts, which included indecency, assault, and sexual activity involving minors.

The court heard that the abuse inflicted by Clive Milton on the girl involved inappropriate games such as spin-the-bottle, where the dares became sexual in nature.

The girl, now in her thirties, described Clive’s behaviour as akin to “rewarding a dog with treats.” The court also noted that Clive had played a role in the girl’s abuse, which culminated in a rape when she was 14.

The prosecution detailed that the boy victim was assaulted at various addresses in Worcester, including a bedsit where Clive lived at the time.

The boy, who was under 12 when the abuse began, was raped multiple times over three years, with the court presenting evidence including a physical abnormality of the attacker’s genitals, which the boy identified.

Both victims finally found the courage to speak out about their experiences, and the impact of the abuse was acknowledged by the judge, who emphasized the profound effects it had on their lives.

Clive Milton’s defence argued that he had been abused as a child himself, which, while not excusing his actions, was presented as a possible explanation for his behaviour.

The court also noted Clive’s poor health, including conditions such as angina, epilepsy, and diabetes.

During the trial, he suffered an angina attack and a fit while being transported to prison.

Six charges involving another girl were not proceeded with and were ordered to lie on the file, leaving open the possibility of future prosecution.

Both cases have left a lasting scar on the Worcester community, highlighting the importance of vigilance and the need for support for victims of such heinous crimes.
