ROY HENRY FROM FORRES SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE AND ASSAULT INVOLVING TEENAGER IN MORAY

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Forres and the wider Moray region, Roy Henry, aged 20, was found guilty of heinous sexual offences involving a teenage boy. The incident, which took place in Henry’s home in Forres, involved a series of disturbing acts that have left the victim traumatized and the community deeply unsettled.

According to court proceedings, the victim, a 16-year-old boy, was subjected to a terrifying ordeal that began with online interactions. Initially, the online chats revolved around fantasy role-playing, which the victim believed to be harmless. However, the situation took a sinister turn when Henry, who was 20 at the time, brought the young boy to his home in Forres and restrained him. The victim was tied up and gagged, lying helplessly on a bed within Henry’s residence.

The court heard that Henry wielded an axe during the assault, threatening to mutilate the boy by cutting out his organs and forcing him to eat them if he disclosed what had transpired. The victim, overwhelmed with fear, initially appeared to be somewhat relaxed due to the nature of their online conversations, but his demeanor changed drastically when Henry moved the axe towards his genitals. This act of intimidation escalated the situation into a sexual assault, during which Henry engaged in sexual acts with the young boy. The victim, whose identity remains protected, was unable to resist or escape from the situation.

At the High Court in Edinburgh, the judge sentenced Roy Henry to four years of detention, emphasizing the severity of his actions. The court was informed that Henry had targeted, befriended, groomed, and ultimately sexually abused the young victim in Forres, Moray. The judge, Lord Uist, highlighted that Henry had previously admitted to sexual offences committed between November 2011 and August 2012, which included acts of masturbation, oral sex, and anal sex with the same youth.

During the sentencing, Lord Uist expressed concern over Henry’s apparent lack of remorse and his perception of the victim as the instigator of the events. The judge stated, “I am told you targeted, befriended, groomed and sexually abused your victim and that you do not appear to appreciate the seriousness of your action.”

Henry’s defense, represented by Edith Forrest, argued that there was disagreement among experts regarding whether Henry’s symptoms of Autistic Spectrum Disorder, formerly known as Asperger’s, influenced his behavior. She urged the court to consider this factor when determining his culpability.

It was also revealed that Henry and the young victim first connected online when Henry was 17 and the victim was only 14. In addition to the sexual offences, Henry was found to have breached court orders that prohibited him from loitering around his local library. He was also caught speaking to a 15-year-old boy in a park in Elgin, for which the court issued a stern warning.

Overall, the case has brought to light serious concerns about grooming, online safety, and the protection of minors from predatory behavior, especially in small communities like Forres and the wider Moray area.
