June 2022 Lanarkshire sex attacker guilty of string of charges A violent Lanarkshire sex attacker traumatised his victim during a harrowing ordeal that spanned several years. Former roofing firm boss Roy Clark – who confessed to being a “womaniser” – denied the charges against him during a trial at the High Court in Glasgow. Following proceedings, Clark, of Rutherglen, was found guilty of seven charges including rape, sexual, indecent and physical assault. The offences took place in the Shettleston and Easterhouse areas of Glasgow, as well as in Rutherglen. Clark – who had been on bail – insisted his victim was not telling the truth and also denied any drunken rages or outbursts. He appeared on the verge of tears as he was remanded in custody by judge Lord Beckett. He was cleared of assaulting and threatening another woman after jurors returned not proven verdicts. Clark will be sentenced next month.
